Our Founders

Charlene and Christine the dynamic duo behind Expressive Kids, bring over 30 years of combined experience working in primary schools across London, Essex, and Hertfordshire. Their careers are distinguished by a deep commitment to Special Educational Needs (SEN) and children’s wellbeing. Both Charlene and Christine are proud recipients of the National SENCo award, recognising their expertise and dedication to fostering inclusive educational environments.

Our Mission

Passionate about nurturing a positive mindset and wellbeing in children, Charlene and Christine founded Expressive Kids. Our holiday camp is designed to be a fun and exciting retreat where children can thrive. We aim to provide access to a wide range of enriching experiences, ensuring every child feels valued and included.

Our holiday clubs are packed with creativity, adventure and fun! From arts and crafts to games, dancing and exciting activities, we provide a welcoming environment where children aged 5–11 can make friends, build confidence and express themselves.

Our holiday clubs are suitable for children aged 5–11 years old.

Where are your holiday clubs located?

We currently run Expressive Kids holiday clubs at two locations in Hertfordshire:

Cheshunt – Flamstead End School
Longfield Lane, Cheshunt, Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire, EN7 6AG

Ware – Christ Church CofE Primary School & Nursery
New Road, Ware, Hertfordshire, SG12 7BT

What are your holiday club opening hours?

Early drop-off: 8:30am–9:30am

Standard day: 9:30am–3:00pm

Late pick-up: 3:00pm–4:00pm

What activities are offered?

Arts and Crafts: Creative projects to stimulate imagination
Drama: Fun drama sessions to build confidence
Team Games: Engaging team activities promoting teamwork
Dancing and Singing: Expressive dance and singing sessions
Outdoor Games: Active outdoor play for physical fitness
Mindfulness and Movement: Techniques for self-regulation and well-being

Who will be looking after my child?

Expressive Kids is run by Charlene and Christine, who both have over 10 years’ experience as SENCOs working with children and supporting their individual needs.
All members of our team are DBS checked, and we only work with trusted teachers and teaching assistants who meet the high standards that Charlene and Christine expect for Expressive Kids.

We pride ourselves on creating a safe, supportive and welcoming environment where every child can feel comfortable, included and free to express themselves.

Can you support children with additional needs?

We want every child to have a positive and enjoyable experience at Expressive Kids. If your child has any additional needs, medical requirements or requires extra support, please let us know before booking.

We will be happy to discuss your child’s individual needs with you and determine how we can best support them during their time with us.

Are there discounts for siblings or multiple children attending?

Yes! We offer a 10% sibling discount when siblings are added to the same booking and paid for together. Please only apply the sibling discount to children from the same family, otherwise the difference may need to be invoiced separately.

What should my child bring?

Please provide your child with a packed lunch, a snack and a clearly labelled water bottle.

We recommend comfortable clothing suitable for the weather and for active play. As we do lots of arts and crafts, please send your child in clothes that you don’t mind getting a little messy!

Please do not bring any food containing nuts or any fizzy drinks.

Are meals and snacks provided?

Unfortunately not. Please provide your child with a snack, water bottle and packed lunch for the day.

Is there a dress code?

There is no specific dress code. We just ask that children wear comfortable clothing suitable for the season and for active play. As we do lots of arts and crafts, we recommend clothes that you don’t mind getting a little messy!

What happens if my child is unable to attend?

We understand that plans can change. If your child is unable to attend a booked session, please let us know as soon as possible.

As our holiday clubs are often fully booked, giving us as much notice as possible may allow us to offer the place to another child. Cancellations and any requests to transfer or refund a booking will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
